But we also find scientists, research and technological exchanges, since the analyzed question foccuses on how did American military and economic hegemony influence new forms of scientific and technical research during the second half of the 20th century? The innovation of this book is it analyzes both research and international relations to investigate the following questions: Did the ways of doing science in different countries change with the new political map? What role did Spain play during this period? What was the diplomatic work of scientists? How was the new power of science configured in the different regions of the world? What disciplines received more attention according to the new military and economic interests? These pages do not intend to provide a definitive answer to these questions, but rather to pose them in all their complexity through a rigorous and innovative approach, but at the same time entertaining and accessible.

Xavier Roqué
Xavier Roqué es profesor de Historia de la Ciencia en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB) y miembro del departamento de Filosofía y del Centro de Historia de la Ciencia (CEHIC). Físico de formación, se doctoró en Historia de la Ciencia (UAB, 1993) y realizó estancias postdoctorales en Cambridge y en París.
