Language and Culture Program
4 weeks
This program may takes place in May. It is a faculty-led program in which students take two classes at Instituto Franklin-UAH and one with their accompanying faculty member. The classes with Instituto Franklin-UAH faculty are related to Spanish language and culture. These classes are complemented with a 3-day trip to Sevilla or Granada, and day visits to Toledo, Cervantes' House, Mahou Beer factory, tour of Alcalá and tour of Madrid. This gives participants a unique opportunity to learn about the culture of Spain and practice their Spanish. Living with Spanish families allows students to speak Spanish every day and learn how people live in Spain. Students live with host families, but they also have the option of living in dorms and get three meals per day.
Instituto Franklin-UAH staff supports faculty by planning, organizing and offering the following services:
Matriculation in three classes at Universidad de Alcalá (students get UAH credits that are transferred to their university)
Finding housing for students with host families or dorms, including meals
Finding housing for faculty and their families
Organizing corporate and cultural visits, and accompanying the group
Offering a pickup service, orientation, and insurance
Support throughout the program
Bussiness Program

Though this program is conducted in English, students live with host families in Alcalá, so they can have an amplified intercultural experience. Education Program
4 weeks
This program fits best during the month of May. It is a faculty-led program in which students take a class at Instituto Franklin-UAH and visit schools in the area. In the course, students learn about the Spanish Education System, its differences with the American Education System, and the Bilingual Program of the Community of Madrid. Students visit different schools (public and charter schools) and they observe teachers. They also prepare different activities, and presentations, and help teachers in class. This gives them a unique opportunity to learn about another education system, meet teachers and students. At the same time, faculty and students dedicate some time to cultural activities visiting Toledo and Segovia. They go on a tour of Alcalá and a tour of Madrid. Students live with host families or dorms and get three meals per day. This program is instructed in English, though it is recommended that students have a basic level of Spanish.
