The course aims to introduce students to the global changes that have occurred in recent decades at a social, political, and economic level, and how these have influenced education. As a result, there are more and more international and bilingual schools that try to train students, future professionals, with a series of language tools and intercultural skills, theoretical and communication techniques, to serve them in different cultural environments. We will also review different educational models, their evolution, and their effectiveness.
This course focuses on the methods used by teachers when designing a course. These processes include learning objectives, teaching methods, and evaluation of results. Special emphasis will be placed on models that place students as protagonists of their learning and teachers as facilitators of that learning.
The course aims to analyze the influence and importance of English as the working language in the current global environment. Specific attention will be paid to the wide acceptance of English as the international working language and official form of communication in multiple sectors of the world economy, especially in the diplomatic and business environment, but also in more specific areas such as air and maritime transport. In addition to the language itself, we will refer to the intercultural environment of the specific professional field in which it is used, illustrating that English has become an essential business tool today.
The course aims to introduce students to the field of international academic management and educational administration from the perspective of leadership and innovation. Throughout the course, we will study the challenges and opportunities offered in the current global context of education at all levels, delving into the development of structures and strategies of internationalization, the choice of actions and appropriate programs for each case, the adaptation of operation of the center in an international context and redefining the international culture of the institution.
The evaluation of international educational programs is essential to assess the impact of the results obtained considering objective parameters and specific criteria such as coherence, effectiveness, efficiency, equity, and adequacy, among others. Throughout this course, students will learn different types of institutional assessments, the objectives, and procedures to be followed to perform an institutional evaluation. Various international quality seals on the field of education will be analyzed, including ECIS. We will also take into account external language evaluation processes (University of Cambridge and TESOL), as independent programs outside the institution.
This course aims to delve into the knowledge of several teaching methods based on different approaches, techniques, and materials, but always focused on students of bilingual schools. Students will work on the CLIL methodology, multiple intelligences, cooperative learning, and different approaches aimed at children with special educational needs.
In international schools where students and teachers come from different backgrounds and countries, teachers, administration and management must understand different aspects of culture. This course offers a theoretical base and practical exercises that help students to develop their intercultural skills.
In this course, students analyze key components of classroom management in practice and reflect on their impact on the teaching/learning process. Students will learn to choose adequate classroom management strategies, materials and techniques to be implemented in a real or hypothetical context, justifying the reasons for their choice and the expected benefits and advantages of each intervention. Students will also reflect on the impact of different classroom management strategies, and delve into ways to improve their classroom management techniques.
