Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and History (majoring in History of Art) by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1987. Between 1986 and 1994, he was founder and Director of Ikeder, pioneering cultural services company in the ­Basque Country. From 1994 to 1996, he was Deputy Director of conservation of the National Museum Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, where he actively participated in the remodeling of the permanent collection display. He was director of the Museo del Prado.
