UCETAM's Bicultural and Bilingual Conference
The objective of the conference was to obtain an overview of the issue of bilingual education from an international perspective. The first part of the conference addressed issues such as the bilingual policy of the Italian government, the importance for students of a mother tongue native teacher in teaching English, the bilingual policy and external evaluations of the Portuguese government, and the bilingual immersion program of the state of Utah and the education exchanges with UCETAM schools. The second part dealt with the experience of an external evaluation in 2nd and 4th grade, the function and role of native assistants, and two classroom experiences: the development of the bicultural program in a multicultural environment with 29 nationalities and the technology of the bicultural project "The Apple Experience".
