Hannah Segura, student of the Teach & Learn in Spain Program, receives the Alice Gould Award 2024
On June 20th, 2024, Hannah Segura received the 10th Alice Gould Award for her research “English as a Foreign Language Instruction with Information and Communication Technologies: A Curriculum Designed to Support English Language Proficiency Using Digital Literacy in Secondary Texas Schools.” Hannah is a student of the Máster en Formación Permanente en Teaching, which is part of the Teach & Learn in Spain Program of the Instituto Franklin-UAH. This award, valued in €600, is given annually by Daughters of the American Revolution España Chapter to a student of the Instituto Franklin-UAH’s Teach & Learn in Spain Program, and acknowledges the development of North American education and history in Spain.
The evaluating committee, formed by Elane Granger Carrasco as president, Kristine Sjostrom as vice-president, and Diana Fernández and Sarah Mackin as board members, decided to award a second prize of €100 to Alexandra Webster, student of the Máster de Formación Permanente en Teaching of the Teach & Learn in Spain Program for her research “Exploring Real-World Applications of High School Biology: Enhancing Student Engagement and Learning in a Michigan Classroom.” Lastly, the committee granted 6 certificates for exceptional merits to Shaghayegh Jafari, Zayer Imam, Manon Lerebourg, Marqz Olivar, Julia Daniel, and Cindy Paguirigan, students of the Teach & Learn in Spain Program of the Instituto Franklin-UAH.
The Alice Gould Award acknowledges those works by students of the Instituto Franklin-UAH Teach & Learn in Spain Program that meet the criteria of relevance, originality in the selection of the topic, soundness of the research design, writing, presentation of the work, depth of analysis, and the previous study in the case of research projects, and the application of academic knowledge and teaching experience in the school in the case of curricular designs.
