A founding member of GIECO, he is Honorary Professor at the University of Alicante and Visiting Research Fellow at the Environmental Humanities Research Centre, Bath Spa University, UK. He is the author of Pastoral (2020), Green Voices: Understanding Contemporary Nature Poetry (2011), Reconnecting With John Muir: Essays in Post-Pastoral Practice (2006) and eight collections of poetry, the most recent of which is A Feast of Fools (2018). He has written, edited and co-edited seven books on Ted Hughes, most recently Ted Hughes in Context (2018). He co-edited with Lorraine Kerslake an ecofeminist issue of Feminismo/s (22) in 2013 and his most recent article is "Uma leitura ecofeminista de árvores, jardins e do orgânico em Aaron's Rod", Revista Ártemis (Brazil) 29: 1 (2020).
