The GIECO research group aims to address the study of relationships between human beings and the environment from the field of humanities. Such relationships are understood more specifically as a cultural expression of a people. The theoretical starting point of the project is ecocriticism. This theory arises as a response and addition to the contemporary humanist project, which has considered the human being as a social being as well as an individual, but has abandoned its close relationship and interdependence with nature and the creatures that inhabit it. This school has reached a certain echo among American, English and German researchers, but it is still little known in Spain.
