U.S. Latinas and Political Leadership
In order to examine the political leadership of American Latinas in the United States, one must first examine American women in politics. Leaders as they say are born not made, and have certain undeniable qualities that distinguish them from the pack. Nevertheless, the ability for women to augment their voice in the American political landscape and thus, also influence the world, continues to be an area of growth and need as the state of American women becomes more vulnerable due to economic instability. For Latina politicians, thereis an urgent need for more Hispanic women in U.S. elected office as issues such as comprehensive immigration reform, health care, and education remain top priorities for U.S. Latinos.
