American foreign policy has been one of the most studied issues from the International Relations perspective. This issue creates great academic and political debate, as well as a great social interest. However, this policy has led to different conspiracy theories or simplistic debates that have shown how unknown its central elements are, particularly outside of the United States. Foreign policy doctrines have been one of the main tools used by US presidents to strategically develop and plan their foreign policy. This book analyzes, through these doctrines, the evolution of the foreign policy of the United States, focusing on its stage as the first world power.
