The Student's Perspective: Gender and Authority
This book analyzes the effects of gender on the authority shown in class by teachers of bilingual high school programs in public schools in Madrid, Spain. Through the use of questionnaires, surveys, classroom observation, student service groups and teacher interviews, qualitative and quantitative results have been obtained. Gender equality is a particularly noteworthy topic in today's social scene. However, some countries have greater gender equality than others. In Spain, the period of Franco's dictatorship established a patriarchal society that has had a long-term impact on the perception of gender roles such as the association of women in the field of education. This work tries to identify how students receive and perceive the authority of teachers according to gender within the same social, biological and religious context.
