There are three thematic blocks on which researchers from various countries reflect on Chicano literature and culture in this edition. In the first block, the different articles presented are linked to two of the best current American writers, Sandra Cisneros and Ana Castillo. In the second block Donna M. Kabalen studies the ideological and power mechanisms used in the construction of the "I" of two Chicano writers in their autobiographies, within the border context or semiotic space between Mexico and Arizona and California. The last group of articles falls under what should be understood as “new / old identities / new / old identities”.
