Neither Eagle Nor Serpent: la guerra de Vietnam como tema literario en la novela chicana
Neither Eagle Nor Serpent: la guerra de Vietnam como tema literario en la novela chicana reflects the bicultural context of this community and the specificity of the themes recreated in the treated works with respect to the non-Chicano Vietnam novels. This is due to the criticism made of the government and the conflicting material used by writers, veterans in turn, such as classism, xenophobia and the manipulation of concepts such as masculinity or patriotism. To reach this conclusion, the author has carried out a thematic typology based on comparative literature and multicultural studies. Following current theories that deny the principle of autonomy of the literary text, she has relied on other subjects such as cultural anthropology, sociology and psychology, specifically, trauma theory and, through a scheme of three narrative phases, has analyzed the thematic-structural foundation of the studied novels.
