Sobre el libro:
La descolonización de la sexualidad en tres autores chicanos (The Decolonization of Sexuality Through Three Chicano Authors) connects different interdisciplinary fields of study such as Border Studies, Chicano Studies, and Gender and Sexuality Studies. This work goes over different theoretical approaches to rethink the representation of sexuality and race in the literary work of three Chicano authors from the 20th century: Gloria Anzaldúa, Cherrie Moraga, and John Rechy. Based on critics and theoreticians as diverse as Michael Foucalt, Judith Butler, Don Mitchell, José Esteban Muñoz, Michael Warner or Emma Pérez, this work explores how through colonization a heteronormative hierarchy, that has survived until to the founding of the Chicano Movement, was imposed to the indigenous communities. The analysis of the works in this book intends to identify how these three authors have constructed an alternative gender order supported by their decolonization of sexuality. They also apply a de-identification strategy to negotiate the creation of an identity that challenges the heteronormativity of the dominant culture.
