María Sarabia Alegría (Santander, 1979) is a Professor of Business Organization.
She has received four consecutive periods of recognition from the CNEAI (Comisión Nacional Evaluadora de la Actividad Investigadora) – research (2002-2007), research (2008-2013), knowledge transfer (2012-2017), and research (2018-2023) – and four five-year teaching periods.
She completed several postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Reading (United Kingdom) under the supervision of Professor Mark Casson (author of the Theory of Internationalization of the Firm and Modern Economic Theory of Entrepreneurship) during 2004 and 2005. Her research focuses on organizational behavior, entrepreneurship, and knowledge management. She is the author of more than 50 scientific publications, over 35 of which are indexed in the Journal Citation Reports and Scopus databases. Co-director of the UAH research group “Entrepreneurship and SMEs: business models and dynamics,” she has participated in numerous national and international conferences and has been a researcher on several National R&D&I and Erasmus+ projects obtained through competitive calls for proposals. She also served as Deputy Director of the Department of Economics and Business Administration at UAH (2019-2022).
She has held various positions of responsibility within the Spanish General State Administration, including Chief of Staff and Advisor in the Ministries of Education, Culture and Sport, Health, Social Services and Equality, and the Interior.
A Spanish University Debate Champion and winner of the Ibero-American University Debate League, she currently directs the Debate and Public Speaking Center at the University of Alcalá and is a regular judge in national and international university debate competitions.
Since 2023 she has been the executive secretary of the CRUE Sustainability Commission.
