Kevin A. Yelvington is Professor of Anthropology at the University of South Florida. His research interests include critical political economy, identity politics, economic development, tourism, and the history of science, all with a regional emphasis on Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States. He is the recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship and a major research grant from the US National Science Foundation. This spring he is in Alicante as Fulbright Senior Scholar, teaching at the Universidad de Alicante and working with undergraduate students on a research project on wine tourism. He earned his D.Phil. in Social Anthropology at the University of Sussex in the UK in 1991.
