Exhibit "Invisible Emigrants: Spaniards in the U.S. (1868-1945)"
INVISIBLE EMIGRANTS. The exhibit that recovers the presence of Spaniards in the United States
From January, 23 to April, 12, 2020, Centro Cultural Conde Duque in Madrid will host the exhibit INVISIBLE EMIGRANTS: Spaniards in the U.S. (1868-1945), a mainly photographic tour that recovers a link existing between both countries that has remained invisible for a long time.
The exhibit, launched by the Fundación Consejo España – EE.UU. in collaboration with Ayuntamiento de Madrid, is curated by the New York University Professor James D. Fernandez and the Spanish journalist and filmmaker Luis Argeo, who have accomplished the collection of a valuable domestic archive formed by thousands of digitalized photographs, objects and souvenirs coming from family albums belonging to hundreds of Spaniard’s descendants that narrate an immense and barely known collective history which is about to disappear.
The exhibition is sponsored by the New York University and its foundation, Fundación Rey Juan Carlos I, Técnicas Reunidas, the United States Embassy in Spain, the Instituto Franklin-UAH, Navantia and HP.
