3rd Franklin Alumni Meeting
After 30 years of success Instituto Franklin – UAH organize 3rd Franklin Alumni Meeting, a networking event conceived to exchange experiences and to share ideas with former participants from all Franklin Study Abroad and Master degree programs.
Once a year, our former participants have a chance to rejoin with fellow trainees and teachers as well as to meet new and exciting people.
The aim of that event is to offer a platform for network building and knowledge exchange. Students will also get the opportunity to meet alumni who will share their experiences of professional networking and career advancement in the field of International & bilingual education.

Title: Life like “Principal Eleanor Alderman”
Eleanor Alderman took over as principal at ICS in the 2016-17 school year. She was Assistant Principal at Piedmont Avenue Elementary for one year before coming to ICS. Ms. Alderman began her teaching career as a PE teacher with Playworks and still has a huge love of sports. Before moving into an Administrative role, she was a bilingual 1st and 2nd grade teacher at Acorn Woodland Elementary for 10 years. She grew up in Oakland and lives in the Fruitvale area. She learned Spanish as a High School student in the Canary Islands and completed her MA in Bilingual and Multicultural Education in Madrid, Spain.
Title: A Transition from Bilingual Education to Study Abroad.
She was born and raised in the California Bay Area. Her passion for Spain developed over the years, and in 2011 she decided to study abroad in Granada. Studying in Spain made her love for the country and culture grow exponentially, and she left her year abroad knowing that one day she would make it back. She followed this dream and returned after graduating in 2013 to work as an English teacher in Madrid for three years, during which she also completed the Máster in Bilingual and Multicultural Education at the Instituto Franklin – UAH. In 2016, she went back to California and decided that she was interested in learning about how she could best support students through their own unique study abroad journeys. She found out about the Middlebury Institute of international Studies at Monterey and pursued a degree in International Education Management. Through this degree She was able to return to Madrid again, and joined the Syracuse University Madrid team in the fall of 2018.

Mary comes from Massachusetts but has been living abroad for ten years. After five years in Latin America she moved to Europe when she profite Erasmus Mundus scholarship. This experience led him to live in Madrid where she continued studying at the Instituto Franklin-UAH in the Master Teach & Learn in Spain in International Education and later at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid like PhD student in education. She has worked as a fellow in several universities in the department of international relations and right now she is the coordinator of the International Office and Hospitality of IED Madrid. She always wanted to know the world and if it were for her, she would be six months in each country of the world. In the future, she wants to help students and / or immigrants to live abroad, to seek their dreams, to know new cultures, and to break the barriers and borders that exist between countries and people in this world.
