
Course: The Transatlantic African Diaspora & Spanish Nexus
PhD in History from the University of Missouri in Columbia and a BS degree in Business & Management from the University of Maryland University College in Germany. An active and sought-after contributor, panelist, and critic, she has been a Visiting Scholar at the University of the Western Cape and Nelson Mandela University in South Africa, the University of Kent in Canterbury, England as well at the Maastricht Center for Trans Atlantic Studies in the Netherlands. Most recently, Dr. Gillis led students on study tours to the National Museum of African History & Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington DC and the internationally acclaimed Calabash Literary Festival held biennially in Treasure Beach, Jamaica.
