Spaniards believe that their image of the United States would improve under the presidency of Kamala Harris, according to a study by the Instituto Franklin-UAH
Today, November 5th, 2024, is a day marked on the calendars of a large part of the planet. Americans go to the polls to make a decision that affects not only their country, but the rest of the world in different areas: who will occupy the Oval Office from now on?
In order to understand in depth the presidential elections in the United States and their impact on an international level, the Instituto Franklin-UAH, in its effort to bring the US closer to the Spanish population, has focused its 2024 activity on dissecting and exploring these issues in depth. Through publications, such as articles and infographics in the blog Diálogo Atlántico and the journal Tribuna Norteamericana, videos and informative threads on social networks, research projects such as the “Annual Report on the image of the United States in Spain”, the organization of round tables and seminars, and the interventions of our researchers in different media, the Instituto Franklin-UAH seeks to help understand the current US electoral race, its functioning and its implications at the international level.
The “III Annual Report on the Image of the United States in Spain 2024: Special US Presidential Elections” gauged the climate of opinion about the presidential candidates among Spaniards, who believe that it is Kamala Harris who has the best chance of reaching the White House. The most relevant results of this report can be found in the infographic recently published in Diálogo Atlántico. This blog also publishes weekly articles by high-level analysts and specialists who examine the presidential race from various angles of study.
During the last few months, and also for the remainder of the year, the Instituto Franklin-UAH has organized a series of events dedicated especially to analyzing and delving into the more technical aspects of the presidential campaigns and the impact they may have on the rest of the world. With the aim of venturing the possible consequences of the new US administration after the elections, the Instituto has organized the seminar “Presidential Elections in the United States. Future of Relations with the European Union” to analyze their impact on Spain and Europe, and the round table “The New US Presidency and the Situation in the Middle East,” which will examine the key role played by the United States in the Middle East conflict.
Throughout today and tomorrow, November 6th, our researchers will be intervening in different media outlets to cover the election results in real time.
