The winners of the Teach & Learn "Good Practices in the Classroom" Award enjoy their stay in New York
The week of October 17th to 20th, 2023, teachers María Isabel Alonso Martín (Colegio Nuestra Señora de las Nieves) and Esther Pérez Iturraspe (Colegio Trinity College School de San Sebastián de los Reyes), beneficiaries of the II Teach & Learn "Good Practices in the Classroom" Award, have made a stay in New York during which they have visited the Dutch Neck School, Claremont Elementary School, Elizabeth Avenue School, Franklin Middle School–SGS Campus, and the Franklin High School, all centers for Elementary, Middle and High School education, which correspond to the stages of Primary, Secondary and Bachillerato in Spain.
During this stay, they have had the opportunity to observe the dynamics in the classroom in Spanish language and bilingual education classes, and participate in teaching through a Latin class with a brief presentation on the impact of the Roman world in Spain. Additionally, they attended workshops and student performances celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
Teach & Learn "Good Practices in the Classroom" Award
The prize consists of a financial contribution of 3,000 € for each beneficiary to cover travel, accommodation and/or subsistence expenses during the visit to schools in New York.
The purpose of this award is to recognize the methodology and joint work, in short, good practices, carried out in the collaboration between teachers and English conversation assistants within the classroom. These grants have as their field of study Bilingual Education and specifically the teaching of the English language in Spanish education, and are intended for teachers from schools that collaborate in the Teach & Learn in Spain program of the Instituto Franklin-UAH.
