The Cátedra ECC-UAH de Investigación y Cultura del Cómic represents Spain at the San Diego Comic-Con
From July 20th to 24th, Francisco Sáez de Adana, researcher at the Instituto Franklin-UAH, participated in the San Diego Comic-Con, California. As Director of the Cátedra ECC-UAH de Investigación y Cultura del Cómic at the Universidad de Alcalá, he has been invited to attend the North American convention on the first occasion that Spain participates in the event at an institutional level.
The goal of this participation, which has been made possible through the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and the General Directorate of Books, Comic Books and Reading, is to publicize the panorama of Spanish comic books in international areas of the industry, which was carried out through the participation of relevant Spanish authors in the sector both in Spain and abroad.
The Cátedra ECC-UAH de Investigación y Cultura del Cómic, directed by Francisco Sáez de Adana, professor and researcher at the Instituto Franklin de la Universidad de Alcalá, was created in September 2022 through an agreement between ECC Ediciones and the Universidad de Alcalá (UAH). Its objectives are academic training around the medium; research into its forms, its industry, its reception and its genealogy; the dissemination of comic books at the local, regional, state and international level; the exploration of the intersections of comic books with other means of expression: bibliographic, journalistic and graphic heritage and audiovisual events such as video games, cinema, television and virtual communication and entertainment platforms; and to create synergies with public and private institutions for the integration of comic books into the social life of Alcalá de Henares, in order to link its status as a World Heritage City with its projection as a nerve center for comics at the state level.
