Industrial Engineer by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and MBA by the University of Southern California. He worked for Banco de Bilbao, Dillon Read Overseas Corporation (London), and he was General Manager of Banco de Progreso (March Group). For almost fifteen years he was Managing Director and responsible for the business of Lehman Brothers in Spain and Portugal, where he was President from 2000 until 2004. He was President of the Círculo de Empresario (Businessmen Society) from 2004 until 2012. He was also President of Holcim España, President of Atlas Capital, President of the Advisory Board at AON-Gil y Carvajal, and Counselor of Prisa. He has been a member of the Governing Council at the Asociación para el Progreso de la Dirección (APD).

Currently, he is President of Anticipa Real Estate (Blackstone), President of Aegón España, S.A., President of the Advisory Board of SAP España, Senior Advisor of Spain and Portugal at Blackstone, Senior Advisor for Spain and Portugal at Natixis, S.A., Counselor of Hispania, S.A., Honorary President of the Círculo de Empresarios (Businessmen Society), member of the Advisory Board at Instituto Franklin-UAH, member of the Board of Trustees at Fundación Créate and member of the Board of Trustees at Fundación Plan International España.
