Bachelor’s Degree in Economics by the Universidad de Málaga.
He is currently a Senior Advisor for the British private equity group CINVEN, a board member of private companies in which he is a partner, a member of the Advisory Board of Cáritas, a mentor for the Logistics Command of the Spanish Army, a trustee of Fundación Loyola –where he chairs the University-Business Cooperation Council–, and a trustee of the foundations Focus (Seville Culture Fund), ADIPROPE (dissemination and promotion of Spanish Heritage), and Nantik Lum (entrepreneurship and financing for people at risk of social exclusion).
He is also a member of the Academy of Social Sciences and the Environment of Andalusia (Academia de Ciencias Sociales y del Medio Ambiente de Andalucía), and of the Royal Academy of Sciences, Fine Arts, and Humanities of Cordoba (Real Academia de Ciencias, Bellas Letras y Nobles Artes de Córdoba).
He has a business career spanning almost 50 years, most of them in Spanish and international companies with a presence in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Latin America. He has served as Chairman of Iberia (2009-2011), IAG (International Airlines Group, 2011-2021), and Chairman of the Board of H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies (2022-2024). Previously, he was Director of International Business at Tabacalera, Managing Director of the Cigar Division, a board member of Telefónica Internacional, Chairman of the Board and Co-Chairman of Altadis, where he was later appointed Chairman of the Executive Committee and CEO of the Group.
