Realidad y Simbología de la Montaña

Realidad y Simbología de la Montaña is the first volume of the CLYMA series, specialized in studies of literary and academic Ecocriticism. In it, there will be twelve essays that analyze, on the one hand, the changing reality of the mountains: the difficult balance between the majestic permanence of its slopes and peaks, and the threat of erosion, exploitation and degradation that the human impact exerts on them ; and, on the other hand, the experiences that occurred in the alpine territories during the vital development of the human being, and the consequent literary recreation of symbols that exemplify admiration or fear in the face of their millennial majesty. In this way, both metaphors of dystopia and resistance can be found praising the healing power of its air and the mystique of the difficult climb of the mountaineer, or chants to the preservation of its habitat - its flora and fauna - which both must the works of literature of childhood, and the memories of nostalgic return to paradise lost in its contours. Finally, it affects how the Mountain speaks to us through multiple signs in a secular and hermeneutical language that we must decipher, and how we must get used to managing the interaction between nature and the human being in order to restore the natural order of things.
